To provide a framework and operational understanding of WRAP from a user's point of view, we define the system to comprise these functions:
DatabasesSeveral databases are required to support WRAP and provide maximum utilisation of the advanced features of the system. The data comprises basically two different categories:
User workspaceThe user workspaces, i.e. the project files or documents, contain excerpts from WRAP dB, usually a limited portion of data which is currently of interest. The project also contains all results which the user has calculated and all the settings and preferences. As the name implies, the project or the document is just a local work space, which means that the user can edit stations and make any experiments with the input data without affecting the central database. All calculations are associated with the current project and, once they are finished, they will be saved along with the rest of the workspace. The project file is treated as any document and may be copied or distributed among other users, i.e. the contents can be saved using a different file name, be printed etc. The file extension will be *.wpr ( WRAP pr oject) or *.wpe ( WRAP project with Equipment data).
Presentation toolsThe Map Viewer is the entity within WRAP which is responsible for all presentations using geographical data, either as a Profile Viewer, a common 2-D map or, as full 3-D map. The Map Viewer will work with any combination of geographical data, results and scanned images. A large number of user definable colours, settings and options are included in all three views. |
